AS1273 is a large, active autonomous system registered in the RIPE NCC database under the legacy AS-name "CW" and held today by Vodafone Group PLC. The "CW" handle is a historical artifact: the ASN originated with Cable & Wireless, the 19th-century British telecoms firm, and its global wholesale/enterprise unit, Cable and Wireless Worldwide, was acquired by Vodafone in April 2012 for roughly £1.04 billion, folding the AS1273 backbone into what Vodafone now markets as the Vodafone Global Network. This is a Tier-1-class international transit and enterprise carrier: PeeringDB reports a balanced traffic level in the 50–100 Tbps range, a Selective peering policy across roughly two dozen public exchanges (AMS-IX, LINX, several Equinix fabrics), and recommended max-prefix limits around 120,000 IPv4 / 15,000 IPv6. Routing sources agree the ASN is heavily interconnected — on the order of 240 observed neighbours, full RIS visibility for both IPv4 and IPv6, and around 191 IPv4 prefixes plus 2 IPv6 prefixes announced live, covering roughly two million IPv4 addresses. RPKI posture is partial: most originated prefixes carry valid ROAs, but a small number of invalid originations were observed.
